Epilepsy

Physician will be responsible for the focused development of an epilepsy practice as a new service and the ability to serve surrounding communities through satellite or virtual clinics; physician will also be expected to participate in inpatient rounding. Functional Neurosurgery

  • Peoria, Illinois - OSF HealthCare Illinois Neurological Institute (OSF INI) is seeking a fellowship trained functional neurosurgeon to join an established practice, with seven neurosurgeons and dedicated advanced practice providers. Position is being created to address the growing population base. Familiarity with the equipment and approach to surgically treating patients with epilepsy and movement disorders, among other conditions, is a plus. Caseload will include, but is not limited to, DBS, depth electrode placement, and grids. Neurosurgery call is 4-5 days a month with full resident coverage. Department performs over 2250 cases in all areas of neurosurgery. This neurology group includes over 75 neurologists, neurosurgeons, and advanced practice providers. Most faculty are fellowship trained. Subspecialties include brain tumor, complex spine, cerebrovascular/stroke, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular, neuro-ophthalmology, neuro-rehabilitation, epilepsy, headache and craniofacial pain, and sleep. Breadth of technology including two O arms, intraoperative MRI, brain lab/stealth navigation, minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery. Academic appointment at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and teaching residents and primary academic appointment with the U of I neurosurgery residency is expected. Resources are available for participation in clinical trials. Tertiary referrals from a 37 county, central Illinois population base of two million support and continue to foster growth within this quality neurology group.

General Neurology

No call. This is a general neurology position. Subspecialists willing to do general neurology will be considered. The physician will see outpatients at our busy practice with more than 3000 visits annually. Monday through Friday office hours. This is primarily a consulting position. Full time collaborating neuroscience advanced practice nurse in clinic with teleneurology capability for subspecialties located in Peoria. Neurologist would see approximately 80% outpatient and 20% inpatient.

Neurohospitalist

  • Peoria, Illinois - The Illinois Neurological Institute (INI), at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, a major teaching affiliate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, seeks neurohospitalists to perform or supervise the performance of patient care services to include hospital admission orders, history-physical examinations and reports, daily evaluations and rounding, daily progress notes, discharge evaluations, and discharge summaries. Neurohospitalists will participate in the neurology teaching service rotation, stroke service rotation, call coverage and telehealth services. A dedicated team of stroke neurologists manages higher acuity stroke patients for the majority of rotations. Schedule will primarily consist of seven clinical days on / seven days off the clinical rotation, with four to six weeks vacation time based on employment longevity. The INI provides the neuroscience care, education and research in OSF HealthCare System, a large Midwestern multihospital group and pioneer ACO.

Neurointensivist

  • Peoria, Illinois - We seek a board-certified neurologist who is fellowship trained in neurocritical care for the Illinois Neurological Institute at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. As part of the larger team of Inpatient Neuroscientists, the neurointensivist would be expected to cover various services – neurocritical care, stroke, general neurology, consult neurology, and teleneurology. As these other services would be shared with inpatient dedicated neurologists, the coverage schedule for the neurointensivist would favor the neurocritical care rotation. This is a full-time, salary-supported position. You will serve as a staff neurointensivist and will be responsible for providing primary medical management of patients within the unit, as well as oversight and collaboration with other practitioners who provide care in the unit. You will additionally participate in neurocritical care practice efficiencies, quality improvement programs, and educational activities for medical students, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals who provide care in the neurocritical care areas. There is a clear expectation that you will be engaged in academic scholarly activities to include clinical research, curriculum development, and/or other editorial or primary medical authorship. As part of our team, you’ll be given a faculty appointment with the University of Illinois College of Medicine which includes the opportunity to form a direct relationship with our residents and fellows. We have 16 neurology and 11 neurosurgery residents in our ACGME accredited programs. In 2016, our service line will also include a vascular fellow, as well as a neuro-radiology fellow.
