Job Description


Reporting to the Director and according to established procedures, administers and scores intelligence, aptitude, personality and other psychological tests in order to obtain data for use by psychologist in determining patient diagnoses and developing treatment plans.  In doing so, obtains patient history information and compiles report on each patient seen for inclusion in patient medical records.  Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served (pre-adolescent through adult) by the department.




Knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served in their department.  This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.

Work requires knowledge of normal and abnormal human behavior, psychological theories, psychometric testing and statistics at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Work requires approximately one to two years progressively more responsible related experience necessary in order to provide case management to assigned patients, become familiar with assessment equipment and procedures, and to be able to assist in clinical procedures.

Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary in order to assist in providing therapy under the direction of a licensed psychologist, deal effectively with learning impaired patients, their families, schools and community agency representatives when gathering patient data, explaining testing procedures and allaying fears.

Work requires analytical ability necessary in order to evaluate psychometric data, develop initial findings regarding patient condition, and manage patient caseloads as directed.
