The essential function is to accurately import patient information into the GEMMS EMR under the supervision of the Medical Records Supervisor and Business Office Manager.

Personal and Professional Responsibilities:
a. Accurately file all patient medical information in the patient’s electronic medical record.
b. Properly identify and route documents to appropriate locations.
c. Prepare chart for scanning.
d. Scan the patient’s information into the EMR.
e. Accurately re-assemble charts.
f. Data entry lab and test results into the EMR and message nurse results available
g. Must be able to identify and differentiate medical reports (discharge summaries, cath reports, cardiac procedures, etc.)
h. Properly handle equipment (i.e. computer, scanner, telephone, copier, fax machine, printers) and report any malfunctions.
i. Daily maintenance on scanners.
j. Scan outside documents to appropriate charts
k. Locate and process information needed form old paper charts still in storage.
l. Assist the EMR Supervisor as needed.
m. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
n. Ensure customer confidentiality at all times.
o. Keep abreast of and follow organizational policies, processes, in-house communications, and new developments in the field.
p. Establish and maintain effective working relations with peers, physicians, and the public.
q. Assist all other office personal in obtaining records from outside facilities and scanning them to the EMR chart.
r. Pick up and process outgoing mail, FedEX, etc.
s. Receive and direct incoming calls to the medical records department.

High school diploma or equivalent
Familiar with medical terminology.
Working knowledge of computers and ability to

Previous medical office experience preferred.
