The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in ensuring medications are promptly, accurately and safely dispensed, delivered, charged and credited. Prepares and labels medications to match orders. Maintains records related to drug use and charges. This position requires the Technician to be proficient in both dispensing oral medications and in preparation of I.V. solutions. Duties may vary by assigned area or shift. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

At least 16 years of age and is attending or graduated from an accredited high school or comparable school or educational institution or GED.

 

Pharmacy Technician License in Illinois or Michigan (dependent on location of employment) OR Must be willing to acquire a Pharmacy Technician License in Illinois or Michigan (dependent on location of employment) by date of hire.

 

Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) validated by PTCB or National Healthcareer Certification within 12 months of hire.

 

Demonstrated ability to perform and apply arithmetic calculations Intermediate computer skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1 year of pharmacy experience.

 

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.

 

Demonstrates knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology.

 

Proficient in Microsoft Office
