Job Description


Provides a leadership role and performs general supervisory duties for the patient accounts departments. The Patient Accounts Supervisor should be highly motivated, self-directed, and have the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment while maintaining a strong customer service orientation. Supervisor must be flexible to variable shifts and scheduled workdays based on business need. Works cooperatively with the management team to promote Revenue Cycle best practices and professional standards in direct correlation with the strategic initiatives of OSF Healthcare System.




High school diploma, or GED equivalent.


3 years experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations.


Must complete all required OSF revenue cycle training and certifications necessary for levels I, II, and III within one year of employment.


Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing data, to perform multiple tasks, and to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.


Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD10, HCPCS, and modifiers.


Working knowledge of medical terminology.


Advanced knowledge of standard PC word processing and website navigation.


Strong attention to detail and ability to obtain and record information accurately.


Communication strong skills to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing with peers, supervisors, payers, physicians, patients, other departments, etc.


Must be self-directed and able to prioritize duties.


Ability to understand, interpret, evaluate and resolve advanced patient service issues.


Advanced problem solving skills to address payer and patient issues appropriately and know when to ask for assistance.


Advanced conflict management and time management skills





Associates degree or higher in business, healthcare, or related field.


Prior experience in a team lead or supervisory position.


CHAA, CHAM, CRCR, or other nationally recognized Revenue Cycle certifications preferred.
