Description

The Dialysis Clinical Educator is responsible for coordinating, developing, implementing, teaching, and evaluating educational programs for dialysis services at several locations. Dialysis patients include pediatric and adult populations and modalities include hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and therapeutic plasma exchange in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The Dialysis Clinical Educator assists in the development of orientation and competency educational tools, the maintenance of staff development records, and the development of patient educational materials and documentation forms. The role develops and individualizes orientation for new hires, meets with new hires and preceptors to guide the orientation process, and works in direct patient care as needed by the department while serving as a preceptor for new hires during orientation to validate competency and evaluate progress of the orientation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelors of Science in Nursing

 

 

2 years nursing experience in the care of dialysis and end stage renal disease patients

 

 

Registered Nurse in current state

 

CPR – American Heart Association American Heart Association

 

ACLS

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Master’s degree in either Nursing or Education within five years of hire

 

Professional nursing certification specific to the approval list by OSF Nursing Practice Council within 2 years of hire.

 

Experience providing education in nursing and/or other areas of health care
