Description

The Data Abstractor RN is responsible for collecting information, analyzing and completing abstracts related to patients within specific quality measure populations. Conducts retrospective and applicable concurrent medical record reviews. Maintains internal and external databases, ensuring all appropriate data is entered in a timely manner. Maintains understanding of both measure requirements and clinical workflows to ensure accuracy and completeness of information. Identifies opportunities for both process and quality improvements and serves as a subject matter expert in organizational quality improvement initiatives. Provides clinical knowledge, expertise and guidance to non-RN abstractors.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Work will focus on Cardiovascular registry.  Previous work in Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology highly desirable.


Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with 2 years clinical patient care or clinical data experience OR 10 years healthcare experience, 3 of which are specific to clinical patient care or clinical data OSF Healthcare Nursing Division requires that all employees beginning employment as a Registered Nurse on or after October 1, 2015 are required to earn a BSN degree within six years from Date of Hire and proof of enrollment within your first 18 months of employment

 

 

Working knowledge of electronic medical record systems

 

Ability to interpret clinical data and understand clinical procedures and terminology

 

Current state license registration as an RN

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Epic experience

 

Prior experience working with clinical quality measures and registries

 

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)

 

Awareness of the principles and fundamentals related to Performance Improvement
