Description

The Radiation Oncology Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of the department. Conducts, supervises and trains employees in Radiation Oncology procedures. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Ensures provision of high quality services and compliance with department, Medical Center, and third-party requirements. Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and properly functioning equipment. Administers and assists in development of section budget.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Registered with ARRT in Radiation Therapy and current licensure with IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety.

 

 

 

Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and equipment operation, and of physics and patience care techniques at a level acquired through an approved program in radiation therapy technology, usually lasting one year beyond radiography training or meeting the requirements to sit for the ARRT Radiation Therapy boards.

 

 

 

Five years’ experience as a radiation therapist.

 

 

 

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, allied health personnel, and other Medical Center personnel when explaining procedures and gathering and exchanging patient-related information.

 

 

 

Analytical skills necessary in order to provide accurate care instructions to patients, interpret physicians' prescrip¬tions for treatment course and effectively duplicate treatment plan.

 

 

 

Working knowledge of Health Radiation Safety technical operations including ALARA.

 

 

 

Management and leadership quality. Analytical skills necessary in order to supervise and conduct Radiation Oncology procedures, maintain properly operating equipment, schedule and assign department services, and resolve technical problems.

 

 

 

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to direct and oversee work of subordinates, explain Medical Center and department policies and procedures, and communicate effectively with other Medical Center personnel when gathering and exchanging information.

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree.
