Job Description


Operates a Medical Center motor vehicle in order to complete a variety of pick-up and delivery assignments. This includes, but not necessarily limited to: mail, medical records, supplies, and patient specimens intended for laboratory testing. Ensures vehicle is maintained in a clean and safe condition and follows organizational safe driving policies. Maintains documentation on route sheets of destinations, pick-up and delivery times. Interacts with clients on a daily basis and executes excellent customer service and positive communication skills.




Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions in order to receive work assignments and determine pick-up/delivery locations.


High school diploma or equivalent/GED required.


Current and appropriate State driver’s license required. 

Ability to communicate effectively with customers of the Laboratory and all clients served. 


Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment and meeting quality standards for services.


Service Orientated: Actively looking for ways to help people.


Time Management and flexibility: Since work is very independent, must show effective time management skills along with adapting to the flexible needs of the departments through needs for flexible pick-ups and/or flexible work scheduling.


Manual dexterity, coordination, and vision to safely operate a motor vehicle on the job. 





Previous on-the-the job driving experience highly preferred. A candidate with previous on-the-job driving experience will be preferred over a candidate without this experience.  


Previous clinical lab and/or lab courier experience beneficial.
