Description

The Medical Office Assistant in the SGDH Contact Center Medication Management division is responsible for receiving new refill and medication authorization requests and accurately initiating these requests. Works collaboratively with patients, caregivers, providers, pharmacies, office staff and insurance companies to ensure that patient care needs are met regarding medication refills and medication pre-authorizations.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High school diploma or GED

 

 

1 year of experience in a clinical setting

 

 

Medical Office Assistant Certification

 

 

Demonstrated knowledge of patient care activities as well as provider practice office functions normally attained through training as a CMA, MOA or the equivalent in previous training and experience 

 

Accurate typing speed of at least 35 words per minute

 

Demonstrated ability to efficiently utilize current technology within contact center area, utilizing available tools/resources in daily work flow

 

Proven organizational skills in coordinating services with co-workers and other departments/services.

 

Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and nonverbal communications utilizing open and honest communication with peers, patients, caregivers, providers and all others. Demonstrates compassion and respect towards others and values the personal worth and dignity of all who interact with department. Responds to stressful situations in a calm, rational manner and cooperates with all to facilitate integrated patient care that exceeds expectation

 

Demonstrated ability to respect the confidentiality rights/regulations of patients/employees/guests.  Discusses confidential information only in appropriate settings and only when necessary.   Demonstrates an understanding of "need to know" with respect to confidential and private information

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Electronic health record experience, ambulatory clinical experience

 

 

Certified Medical Assistant
