Under general supervision, in accordance with physician orders, and in compliance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care provided to assigned patients. Collaborates with a Registered Nurse. Serves as patient advocate.
Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the State of Illinois.
Substantial interpersonal skills required in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families and maintain effective contacts with a variety of medical center personnel and staff.
A high level of analytical skills necessary in order to effectively utilize the nursing process.
Acquires and effectively utilizes knowledge of department/unit policies and procedures following unit specific orientation period.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail in performing and planning professional nursing care and dealing with patient and families often during stressful situations.
