Reporting to the Clinical Director of Medical Psychology Services
A doctoral degree, either Ph.D. or Psy.D., from an APA approved program in clinical psychology.
A minimum of two years work experience, one year predoctoral and one year post-doctoral, in a specialized neuropsychology setting.
A valid and current license to practice clinical psychology issued by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations, or a pending application of licensure if in the probationary period of employment.
Thorough knowledge of psychological principles, including but not limited to psychological assessment and testing, theories of personality, abnormal psychology, cognitive theory, behavior modification, individual and group therapy, and biological bases of behavior as normally acquired through completion of an accredited doctoral program and post-doctoral training.
Practical experience in administering a variety of psychological tests, including but not limited to, the WAIS-IV, WISC-IV, WRAT-III, WMS-IV, WCST, and any acceptable method of neuropsychological assessment (such as the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Test Battery, the Luria-Nebraska Neuropsychological Test, or the “process” approach).
Thorough knowledge of operant and respondent theories of behavior, as well as principles of reinforcement. Ability to integrate these theoretical ideas into applied behavioral analysis and behavior modification programs.
Analytical skills sufficient for interpreting psychological test data, making inferences about patient behavior and personality, and formulating treatment plans that will aid in behavioral and/or cognitive improvement.
Effective communication skills necessary for working closely with patients and family members, and for exchanging information with physicians and other health care professionals.
