Reporting to the Patient Care Manager and according to department standards, functions as a member of the Patient Care Team. In doing so, performs duties/tasks related to acceptance/transfer of patients on unit, transfer of patients, and the like. Assembles and maintains patient charts ensuring documents are filed in charts or scanned into EMR in a timely manner. Observes monitors and interprets patients’ EKG rhythms per remote viewing station. Responsible for assembly, maintenance, cleaning and tracking of equipment. Assemble and maintain logs. Recognizes and identifies cardiac rhythms, alarms, and emergent situations. Communicates with nursing staff. Utilizes fax/copy machines, Hyland scanner, and pneumatic tube system. In addition, the following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary slightly by assigned unit or shift. Strong customer service and hospitality skills required.
Work requires ability to read, write and communicate effectively with other members of the Patient Care Team; in person, by telephone and computer messaging, at a level generally acquired through completion of a high school education.
Work requires completing and passing EKG class, as well as passing EKG competency every 12 months.
Work requires up to 6 weeks hands on training to become proficient in operating all equipment/computers within the department, to learn department policies, procedures and work routines and become familiar with locations of various departments throughout the Medical Center.
Work requires analytical ability necessary to prioritize own work load to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
