Reporting to the Patient Care Manager and according to department policies provides appropriate basic nursing care to patients based on the ages of the patients served on the unit. This includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, and observing patients for physical/emotional changes. Records pertinent information in patient charts and communication with other patient care providers to ensure continuity of care. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by assigned shift.
The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s).
This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Illinois.
Approximately 1 week on the job experience necessary in order to gain knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures and techniques, and to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of unit procedures and schedules.
Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members and/or significant others; and to communicate effectively with other patient care providers.
Work requires analytical ability necessary to prioritize work load.
