Description

The Program Manager Interprofessional Education serves as a designer, developer, instructor, evaluator, consultant, and facilitator for interprofessional education programs in all simulation environments. Leads and promotes development and implementation of in-situ simulation programs within OSF Medical Centers and across the Ministry. Remains abreast of best practices in interprofessional education and collaborative practice, incorporating these into simulation-based education and instructional materials. Assists Course Directors in using interprofessional and in-situ simulation to identify systems and process issues, performance gaps, and areas for professional development among all members of the healthcare team. Similarly, uses in-situ and other interprofessional simulation learning opportunities to promote organizational learning and collaborative practice and in support of quality and safety. Works in collaboration with a growing group of unit/division leaders to develop an annual education plan and competencies as they relate to inter-professional education and simulation-based instruction. Acts as a catalyst for change and adapts to change in a positive and professional manner. Exemplifies and role models the “Every Patient, Every Time” culture.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree, 2 years of experience in simulation-based education, completion of Introduction to Simulation Facilitation Course – Jump Instructor Course or equivalent; or

 

Associate’s degree, 3 years of experience in simulation-based education, completion of Introduction to Simulation Facilitation Course – Jump Instructor Course or equivalent; or  

 

High School diploma/GED, 3 years of experience in simulation-based education, and 5 years of prior experience as a nurse, paramedic or other paramedical professional, completion of Introduction to Simulation Facilitation Course – Jump Instructor Course or equivalent

 

 

Knowledge of and interest in simulation and health professions education; commitment to life-long learning, including use of multiple cloud-based and other software programs

 

Demonstrated ability to work well with others to foster a team environment as well as collaborations across departmental and institutional boundaries

 

Proven ability to utilize simulation for quality improvement and patient safety

 

Advanced analytical skills required to address operational and system problems, to gather and interpret data, and to prepare clear, concise management reports that alert administration to opportunities and threats and propose appropriate action plans

 

Strong computer skills including MS Office or similar productivity software for purposes of creating word documents, presentations, and to maintain and manipulate data related to simulation and other activities using Excel

 

Must be able to work a flexible schedule as simulation curriculum dictates, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, or related field

 

 

Experience in contributing to educational research and publication

 

 

Current state licensure and/or certification in field of clinical practice
