Description

Reports to the Director of Behavioral Health and is responsible for providing psychological services to patients/clients with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. In doing so, engages in activities such as interviewing patients, families, and other appropriate personnel in order to obtain information regarding patients personal, medical, and mental history. Selects, administers and interprets self-report questionnaires to diagnose and formulate treatment plans, and consults with other treatment team members as necessary (i.e., physicians, psychiatrists, dietitians, and nurses) in order to provide optimum treatment program. Monitors patients' progress, revising treatment plans as necessary. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. 

 

This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.

 

 

Knowledge of principles of psychology, human development and behavior, and psychological treatment procedures as normally acquired through completion of requirements for master's degree in psychology or related field.

 

 

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patients, families, employees, medical staff and the media in explaining and providing care to Eating Disorder patients/clients.

 

 

Analytical skills necessary in order to assess life threatening situations regarding potential suicides, homicides and child abuse and take appropriate action. 

 

Ability to administer, score and interpret self-report questionnaires, diagnose mental disorders, and develop treatment plans.

 

 

Current State of Illinois licensure as a LCPC or LCSW required.

 

 

Current CPR certification recommended.
