Provides receptionist, computer operations, clerical duties, and
communication flow for surgery. Assists the nursing care manager, staff nurses, physicians, ancillary department personnel, patients, and visitors within a level of knowledge to facilitate the continuous flow of patients, visitors, and staff and communication within the surgery department.
Work requires ability to read, write and communicate effectively at a level generally acquired through completion of a high school education.
Work requires 6 to 12 months experience and on the job training to learn how to perform the various duties of this position.
Ability to type 20 wpm. Interpersonal skills necessary to greet visitors; comfort patients, family members and/or significant others; and to communicate effectively with other patient care providers.
Work requires analytical ability necessary to prioritize workload.
