The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.
Completion of high school or its equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
Experience with office applications and Internet.
It is required to complete all required revenue cycle training and certification level I within 12 months of hire.
Typing speed of 35 wpm within 90% accuracy.
Problem solving, conflict management, time management, communication skills all required.
Minimum of 3 years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment is preferred.
Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
