Graduate of a DOT approved Emergency Medical Technician program.
Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS CPR or approved equivalent (must include infant through adult, one and two-man rescuer, use of AED, and choking with hands-on CPR skills return demonstration, and must be pre-approved by Org Dev/Human Resources) completed prior to employment.
Current Illinois EMT license, OSF-EMS approved.
Ability to read and follow written protocols for safety is necessary.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
Ability to combine and organize different information into one meaningful pattern.
Ability to uncover the important and relevant information about the problem through questioning, conversation, and/or discussion.
Ability to understand and follow the laws that govern emergency vehicle operation.
Ability to read maps and identify locations of city streets.
Ability to perform procedures and techniques involved in administering treatments and care in field situations.
Ability to perform procedures and aseptic techniques involved in assisting with treatment of patients in the emergency department.
