Description

Assists management in overseeing and directing work of technical personnel engaged in performing various routine and complex laboratory tests. In doing so, establishes work priorities, organizes and assigns work to laboratory personnel. Performs more complex and/or non-routine testing procedures and regularly checks validity and accuracy of test results obtained by laboratory personnel. Performs the duties of the technical personnel in assigned section on a regular basis.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor Degree in a science or healthcare related field.

 

 

Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited program and subsequent ASCP or AMT Board of Certification, such as but not limited to CG/MB/CT/MLS/MT/CLS.

 

 

1 year of Laboratory experience. 

 

Technical expertise necessary in order to interpret tests, recognize abnormal test results, validate and optimize new testing platforms, synthesize complex technical procedures and troubleshoot technical or equipment issues.

 

 

Analytical skills necessary to interpret and determine appropriate specimen preparation method, and to evaluate suitability of slides or assay results produced.

 

 

Ability to work on several projects at one time with good organizational skills, judgment and technical skills.

 

 

 

Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals.

 

 

High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations.

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Master’s Degree in a science or healthcare related field 

 

 

1 to 3 years of full time experience as a certified CG or MB in a Clinical Laboratory setting.

 

 

 CG (ASCP), MB (ASCP) or equivalent
