DescriptionReports to Patient Care Manager of Patient Care Services and is responsible for directing and coordinating the administrative activities of the Medical Center during assigned holiday, evening, night and weekend shifts ensuring provision of necessary nursing care and patient care services. In doing so, interprets and enforces established policies and procedures, serves as resource person regarding clinical nursing services, resolves difficult employee, patient, and/or equipment problems, responds to medical crises, and contacts appropriate Assistant Administrator regarding complex situations. Assumes overall responsibility for adequate staffing during assigned shift. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Professional knowledge of nursing procedures, theory and administration in order to oversee operations of all nursing units during off shift hours at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho social needs of the patient population served
Approximately three to five years progressively more responsible related work experience necessary in order to gain an in depth and up to date knowledge of organization and operation of the Medical Center's nursing departments, and be able to resolve staffing and complex patient care issues under minimal direction.
Current State license as a Registered Nurse.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to assigned employees and interact effectively with patients, visitors, staff and a variety of departmental personnel when gathering and exchanging patient related information.
Analytical skills necessary in order to interpret and enforce policies and procedures, determine efficient staffing, and identify and initiate appropriate corrective actions to resolve systems problems.
