The Medical Record Technician (MR Tech) is responsible for compiling, processing and maintaining records of hospital patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements. Performs a variety of moderately complex tasks that are highly confidential and are defended by established policies and procedures. MR Tech maintains the integrity of the legal health record so complete and accurate records are available for patient care and business use in a timely manner.
High School diploma or GED
Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to specific set of rules.
Basic keyboard and software application skills.
Able to provide information to supervisors, co-workers and physicians by telephone, written, e-mail or in person.
Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing excellent customer service and personal service.
Associates Degree in Health Information Management or similar field
Previous experience in medical records dept. or health related field
