Description

The Charge Description Master (CDM)/Charge Capture Analyst ensures complete, accurate, timely and compliant charge capture within the CDM. The Analyst is also responsible for providing support for the management and coordination of the CDM for OSF HealthCare. This position develops, oversees, and maintains Epic revenue cycle systems, as well as other billing processes and systems to effectively meet established charge capture goals and service standards to ensure organizational success. This position will work with the CDM/Charge Capture Manager to assist with the annual CDM review and provide interim guidance to facilities for CDM routing maintenance, coding inquiries and opportunities to optimize reimbursement through proper matching of revenue codes, HCPCS and CPT4 codes.  Maintain and coordinate HIPAA Transaction Code Set updates.  

The CDM Analyst also works to develop and track meaningful metrics and key performance indicators related to denial management, avoidable write-offs (AWO) prevention, and payment variance and charge capture. This position is responsible for the interpretation of metrics and reporting, and regular communication with the revenue integrity team and will quantify trends and measure opportunities to increase net revenue and assist with source identification and root cause resolution of denials and payment variance. The position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with Revenue Integrity, Revenue Cycle Operations, IT, Finance, and other stakeholder departments.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Associate’s Degree in Healthcare, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and 5 years’ experience in healthcare revenue cycle, or High School diploma or equivalent and seven years’ experience in healthcare revenue cycle.

 

Working knowledge of hospital billing, coding, charging and charge capture

 

Working knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to billing processes and procedures.

 

Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets and working with databases.

 

Excellent ability to understand and interpret statistical reports and perform quantitative analysis.

 

Advanced skills in problem solving in a variety of settings and translation of data into actionable steps.

 

Strong understanding of hospital or procedural coding, billing, managed care fundamentals and denial resolution processes for both hospital and billing claims.

 

Knowledge of the principles of Information Systems in order to effectively analyze make decisions

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field

 

Proficiency in EPIC

 

RHIA, RHIT or Coding Certification
