Job Description


The Clinical Business Coordinator is responsible for leading the work of takeaway analysis and business cases with the Chief Nursing Executive Council. This position supports the work of the Nursing Executives by leading peer teams in translating data into actionable information and recommendations that assist leadership with decision making for operational and strategic areas including improved clinical outcomes, financial performance, productivity improvement, cost optimization, staffing, space or supply utilization, and system integration. The Clinical Business Coordinator is responsible to partner with finance and healthcare analytics as they lead strategies for data analysis. This position addresses access to and transparency of information through reports and dashboards, data from the operational process metrics within the Care Hub, data from financial data-bases, explorers, clinical resource, and clinical care quality metrics. This includes levering data from key technology systems including, but not limited to patient workload management system, Strata, Enterprise Data Warehouse, API, Epic, communication systems and infusion drug libraries. Other key responsibilities of the position are to support financial stewardship through collaboration on clinical budgets and business cases while serving as the liaison between Nursing, IT Reporting, Ministry Healthcare Analytics and Finance. The Clinical Business Coordinator identifies gaps, recommends targets and devises the most efficient and effective methods for measuring and reporting performance.




BSN with completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing or Business Administration within 3 years of hire



3 years of work experience, with progressively increasing responsibility in healthcare, business intelligence, data analytics, operations, finance, or information systems



Demonstrated history of using reporting, spreadsheet, and complex data including strong knowledge of Microsoft suite applications (including Excel, access database, word processing, and PowerPoint).


Demonstrated ability to manage risk and ambiguity, work effectively with operational staff, leadership, and clinicians to define scope, and be able to manage multiple and often changing priorities. Time management skills required to deliver high-quality reports and information in a dynamic environment with critical deadlines.


Advanced analytic skills to address clinical, operational and system related problems, to gather and interpret clinical and financial data, to prepare clear, concise management reports, and to find practical solutions to difficult and complex problems.


Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required to share complex information with leaders across the Ministry. Previous experience preparing and delivering both small and large group presentations to administrators, physicians, and others is required.


Proven skills in organizing projects, team building, training, and problem solving are required.  Supervisory experience is desirable.



Certified in nursing or healthcare administration within 2 years of hire such as ACHE FACHE or ANCC’s NEA-BC or equivalent recognized certification. 







MBA or advanced business, finance, nursing, economics or health care degree



Experience in project management and performance improvement in a complex setting



Extensive knowledge of the OSF HealthCare clinical and financial systems
