DescriptionA College of Nursing Adjunct Assistant Professor is a member of the academic faculty entrusted with the development, implementation, evaluation, and optimization of the College’s program(s) curricula. An Adjunct Assistant Professor serves the College, its students, faculty, staff, the profession, and community. An Adjunct Assistant Professor is expected to participate and contribute to nursing scholarship through research activities, presentations, or publications. Each faculty member is expected to abide by and promote the Mission, philosophy, and expected outcomes of the College and its programs within the philosophic framework and policies of OSF Healthcare and the College Board. Adjunct faculty appointments reflect a limited assignment for one or more specific courses and/or semesters.
Master’s degree in area of teaching.
Graduate degree in nursing if teaching in area of nursing.
Earned doctoral degree from regionally accredited college or university preferred. Evidence of continued self-development within profession
Three years of successful teaching experience at the baccalaureate or graduate level.
Knowledge of teaching/learning theories and curriculum design.
Two years experience in clinical nursing practice if teaching in area of nursing.
Knowledge of subject matter in assigned areas. Record of scholarly presentations or publications.
Experience commensurate with area of teaching responsibility.
Behavior reflecting “Code of Ethics for Nurses” (American Nurses Association, 2008).
Leadership and organizational skills.
Strong communication and teaching skills.
Required Licensure/Certification: Current, unencumbered RN license in Illinois if responsible for teaching nursing. Current CPR if teaching clinical nursing
Required ongoing development and education: Continues to increase knowledge base through advanced academic preparation and continuing education.
Meets annual and long-term goals for professional development and personal growth. Mission and Regulatory (e.g., JCAHO, OSHA) requirements per OSF SAMC. Workshops and
conferences as needed for continued licensure
Has a record of refereed paper/posters at professional meetings
