The Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician I (BMET I) position at OSF HealthCare System is an entry level position for the provision of general medical equipment repair in support of the maintenance of clinical equipment installed throughout the OSF HealthCare System. The BMET I serves primarily at the facility, and as needed at the regional level acting as a technical resource for key stakeholders throughout the OSF HealthCare System. Key stakeholders include all others in the Clinical Engineering department, OSF point of care clinicians and other local staff.
Associates Degree in Biomedical Equipment or Electronics Technology, military electronics training, or 3 years electronics service experience.
College credit in Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology. This requirement can be completed within 18 months from date of hire.
Entry level position with no previous experience required.
Ability to present complex data in a concise format.
Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
Ability to work well with others.
Excellent general office computer skills and the ability to process detailed information in an accurate manner.
Ability to use common bench, power & hand tools, and test equipment associated with the maintenance of medical equipment.
Fundamental knowledge of:
a. Anatomy and Physiology.
b. Public safety in healthcare facilities.
c. Fundamentals of electricity and electronics, pneumatics and mechanical principles.
d. Healthcare technology function and operation.
e. Healthcare technology problem solving.
f. Healthcare information technology.
