Description

Under general supervision, Database Administrators evaluate, plan, design, configure and project manage implementations of commercial database software application systems. Analyze, test, troubleshoot and maintain installed systems and support users. Provide documentation to support system design, testing and training. Assist with the management of customer expectations and customer interactions and participates in team quality management initiatives. Guide and advise less-experienced Database Administrators.

Area of Focus:
The area of focus for this position is Microsoft SQL database environment administration.  Primary responsibilities include design and support of the installation, maintenance, and administration of the environment and related ETL processes.  Secondary responsibilities include assisting in the support of other database systems within the environment.
• Candidates must possess (or agree to attain within six months) a minimum of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 certification to be considered for this position.
• Epic Clarity ETL Administrator certification is required through training provided at Epic.  Selected candidates must achieve certification within three months of attending class (to be scheduled within six months of hire).
• Previous experience in data warehouse, reporting, and system administration is desired.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Knowledge of healthcare information technology at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Computer Science or other closely related field in order to understand information technology principles.  Equivalent work experience will be considered.


Certifications at minimum required levels defined by Epic must be maintained.


Experience in information technology customer service is required.


Specific knowledge of system integration and application interface design issues is required.


Specific knowledge of industry and company database development standards and data quality assurance practices is required. Knowledge of leading edge programming.


Specific knowledge of system integration and application interface design issues is required.

Understanding of database analytical tools, network architecture and protocols, security risks and security policies is required.


Knowledge of large hierarchical and relational database techniques and methodologies is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Five years of progressively more responsible experience in database disciplines including development and maintenance of hierarchical and/or relational databases is preferred.


Experience with using information technology in the healthcare industry is preferred.


Knowledge of leading edge programming, object oriented programming is preferred.


Expertise in multiple database disciplines and programming languages is preferred.


Experience with multiple computer application software and operating system environments and platforms is preferred.
