The Hospice Clinical Supervisor works closely with the Hospice Manager in overseeing all clinical aspects of the Hospice programs including but not limited to accompanying clinicians during on-site visits to guide and promote efficient patient care delivery that incorporates patient assessment, instruction and intervention based on evidenced based principles. The Clinical Supervisor will assume responsibility for agency in the physical absence of the manager and may act as a resource for another office. The Clinical Supervisor will spend up to 50% of the time on-site supervising clinicians providing direct patient care. The Clinical Supervisor is expected to participate in monitoring activities to support improvement in process and clinical practice. The Clinical Supervisor acts as a liaison to the IS Coordinator through facilitating excellent practice strategies that document and communicate care delivery effectively through the use of Point of Care computer technology. The Clinical Supervisor acts as a liaison and educator on department processes and appropriateness of care and may serve as a mentor for new clinicians. The Clinical Supervisor ensures compliance to OSF policies and procedures, and works closely with the Manager and respective PI/Education Coordinator to ensure all team members meet established standards. The Clinical Supervisor must be a self-starter and show initiative to maintain a highly efficient and competent clinical workforce. The Clinical Supervisor shall be proficient in technology to help mentor staff when they are introduced to new patient care technology. The Clinical Supervisor will be assigned to committees or community liaison duties as assigned by Manager.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) in which they are practicing.
Bachelor's of Nursing required by 12/31/2020
Provides own transportation and auto insurance and abides by all laws, rules and recommendations for safe driving while on duty.
Maintains a valid driver’s license.
Must have certification in CPR prior to patient contact.
Demonstrates ability to work independently and execute own workload.
Must be able to use and operate medical equipment and technology.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
Hospice experience required.
Must be able to use and operate medical and/or office equipment/computers, including Point of Care devices.
Knowledge of reimbursement and regulatory requirements for Hospice. Experience working with government and accrediting agency officials.
Demonstrates excellent communication, human relations, and analytical and problem solving skills.
Minimum of 2 years of progressively more responsible related work experience.
Participation in On-Call duties as needed.
Occasional weekend duty as needed to fulfill role with weekend staff members.
Completion of bachelor’s degree preferred.
