Description

Provides for the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families in assigned area and mission partners. Provides a stabilizing force in a crisis situation.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in related field and Master’s degree from an accredited college/university, school of theology or equivalent.

Prior experience in healthcare pastoral ministry especially in visiting persons who are ill or in crisis.

Ability to relate to people of all faith tradition and those with no religious affiliation.
  
Displays sensitivity to and understanding of various cultural, religious, ethnic and different racial backgrounds.
 
Ability to deal with and counsel on confidential and sensitive issues.
 
Emotional maturity with an ability to cope with crisis situations and to respond appropriately is necessary.

Ability to be present to others in their illness and crisis, providing pastoral support within the context of the patient’s culture, values and belief system.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.
 
Preferred:

Completion of at least one unit of (CPE) Clinical Pastoral Education.

Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively.
