DescriptionSterile Processing Coordinators are responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of personnel engaged in cleaning, sterilizing, assembling and distributing surgical and patient care equipment supplies and instrumentation. Ensures the provision of high quality services in accordance with Medical Center and regulatory requirements. Assists in assuring adequate staffing, supplies, and properly functioning equipment in accordance with the Medical Center and regulatory requirements. Ensures optimal productivity and provision of high quality services. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in all areas of the Sterile Processing Department.
Achieved level of Sterile Processing tech 2 with certification in CRCST or CST, or a Knowledge of theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited 2 year program for CST, LPN, or related field.
Approximately 2 to 3 years progressively responsible work experience showing technical competence in sterile processing procedures, policies, and practices, and understanding of systems and equipment used to lead and direct department work.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with section personnel when directing work, with vendors when evaluating new supplies and equipment, and with a variety of Medical Center personnel when gathering and exchanging technical information regarding sterilization procedures.
Analytical skills necessary in order to direct opera¬tions on a daily basis, effectively develop and administer departmental policies, procedures and budgets and to respond effectively to equipment, technical and employee relations problems.
