Registered Professional Nurses at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Illinois are licensed professionals empowered to participate in an interdisciplinary approach to meet the expectations of those we serve. As members of the Professional Nursing Congress, the registered nurses are actively involved in the continued evidence based development of best practices to ensure individualized and desired outcomes at discharge. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs patients.
Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory at a level that generally can be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current State license as a Registered Nurse required.
Two years of RN experience required; 1 year of ED or ICU experience preferred.
Work requires unit-specific orientation and on-the-job training to learn department/unit policies, procedures and work routines; to develop proficiency in use of medical equipment and instruments used on assigned unit; to learn nursing care and quality assurance standards; and gain an understanding of the types of infants cared for on the unit, their needs, and effective nursing interventions.
Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members, and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other care providers; and to instruct patients, family members, and/or significant others in home care procedures.
Work requires analytical ability necessary to assess patient’s physical, psychological and social needs, develops individualized care plans, and evaluate responses to medical and nursing interventions.
