Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Patient Care Services, Chief Nursing Officer.  Promotes excellence in nursing leadership, evidence-based practice, education, and management through his/her role as change agent, educator, consultant, mentor, researcher, program developer and professional role model. Directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, training and professional development strategies in a blended learning environment that utilizes evidence-based methodologies and adult learning theory to address accrediting and regulatory standards, centers of excellence, specialty services, service delivery, Ministry and Medical Center Nursing strategic priorities, and industry conditions. Leads the enculturation of professional nursing and clinical practice through the tenets of the OSF Healthcare Professional Practice Model, ANA Scope & Standards of Practice, and the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Provides administrative direction and oversight to the shared governance structure, Magnet designation, participation in performance improvement projects, and the coordination and communication of nursing research.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

PhD in Nursing or Nursing Education from an accredited program

 

Approximately 5 years progressively more responsible related work experience, with 2 years’ experience in research, education, and/or leadership.

 

Current active Illinois Registered Nursing License

 

Specialty Certification NE-BC (Nurse Executive-Board Certified), or NEA-BC (Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certification) from ANCC (American, or CEPC (Center for Excellence in Primary Care)

 

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to coordinate SAMC nursing professional practice model, ANCC requirements for Magnet designation, and to develop an EBP and research program.

 

Must be able to communicate (verbally and written) and work effectively with hospital administration, physician leaders, and ancillary leadership.

 

Advanced analytical skills necessary in order to develop recommendations for and assist in implementing changes in patient care practices, policies, and procedures, evaluate the results or outcomes of system changes, develop educational programs, and conduct scholarly research.

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Demonstrates sophisticated research, communication, and leadership skills. 

 

Must be able to lead facility wide change, assimilate and translate research into everyday practice, and produce professional documentation of same.
