Job Description


This is a supervisor position of inpatient palliative care advanced practice providers. The position is Monday-Friday with a weekend rotation and involves 0.8 FTE in clinical practice (working side by side with the team) and 0.2 FTE administrative duties (equal to 8 hours/week in administrative tasks: approving and processing the schedule, coordinating advanced practice education, evaluating clinical performance of advanced practice providers, and ensuring evidence based practice among APPs with emphasis on continuous quality improvement.




License to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Illinois with board certification as APN or PA by appropriate accrediting body with educational degree commensurate with license as APN or PA.


Function as a skilled leader, providing direction and assistance to team members; plan, organize and schedule work assignments and evaluate performance of team members.



Act as a medical consultant to other health care personnel.



Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; work under pressure; demonstrate a professional approach to work; think strategically; demonstrate integrity and ethics in conduct and decision-making; demonstrate initiative, creativity and flexibility; identify learning needs of self and others.



Set challenging and realistic goals and assists other with the development of challenging and realistic goals.



Role model professional verbal and non-verbal demeanor; excellent organizational skills.



Skill in the use of personal computers, including business and clinical/patient-information software applications.






At least 3 years of experience in advanced practice role preferred.
