Job Description


A non-exempt position that reports to the Support Services Supervisor but also receives supervision from the Physician, and Registered Nurse.  Responsible for making appointments for patients following medical practice procedures.  Performs duties necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of the clinic (receptionist/registration).




High school diploma or equivalent.  

Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at high school level. 

Previous secretarial/clerical experience is required, preferably in a medical setting.

Knowledge of medical practice protocols related to appointment scheduling.  

Knowledge of medical terminology for interpreting physician instructions and patient needs. 

Knowledge of confidentiality requirements related to patient information.  

Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.  

Skill in organizational matters, including time management, prioritization, multitasking and problem-solving.  

Ability to type accurately at 50-60 wpm.  

Able to learn/use other computer programs including Microsoft Excel, email, Internet and Microsoft PowerPoint.  

Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.  

Ability to sort and file materials correctly using alphabetic systems.  

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and other clinical staff, and the public. 




College courses in English, Business, or related field preferred, but not mandatory
