Description

Reporting to the Manager of Facility Services and according to established procedures, performs diagnostic tests, repairs, replaces, and installs air conditioners, refrigeration equipment, heating, hydraulic pneumatic, hydraulic and all energy center equipment including the incinerator for the Medical Center.  In doing so, maintains the building automation system by continual updates on the database.  Maintains major life safety equipment, including medical air compressors, purification equipment, medical vacuum pumps of various design, and medical gas transmission piping.  

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent


Qualifications include verifiable vocational training of 2 to 3 years in a HVAC service position, or verifiable completion of apprenticeship program; Approximately two to three years verifiable related work experience necessary in order to fully understand installation and repair of refrigeration equipment, medical air and pneumatic controlled compressors and vacuum pumps, thermostats and environmental control systems delivery system, building automation systems, etc.


ARI EPA-approved universal type refrigeration license.

 

Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings, knowledge of refrigeration principles, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, pressure vessels, etc.   


Must fully understand installation and repair of refrigeration equipment, medical air, and pneumatic controlled compressors, vacuum pumps, thermostats, environmental controls, air handling equipment, and DDC controlled building automation systems.

 

Analytical ability necessary to determine cause of and find solutions to refrigeration equipment malfunctions, pneumatic control system malfunctions, air handler mechanical, electrical and DDC system automation malfunctions.

 

Physical Requirements:

1. Work requires ability to lift objects weighing up to one hundred pounds on a weekly basis.

 

2. Work requires ability to carry objects weighing up to fifty pounds on a daily basis.

 

3. Work requires ability to stand three or more hours at a time.

 

4. Work requires ability to climb (ascend and/or descend) ladders, scaffolding, and/or ramps on a daily basis.

5. Work requires the ability to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity, and communicate with other people. 

 

6. Work requires ability to push and/or pull laundry or supply carts, gurneys, or wheelchairs on a daily basis.

 

7. Work requires ability to use a keyboard (typewriter, word processor, or computer) to enter and transform information or data on a daily basis.

 

8. Work requires ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data on a daily basis.

 

9. Required to have valid drivers license.

 

10. Willing to work flexible hours/shifts including weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the facility operations. Willing to work overtime.

 

11. Other duties as may be assigned
