Description

Works collectively with the Medical Director, Manager, staff and patients to achieve optimal efficiency and success in sleep disorder function testing and scoring. Performs comprehensive sleep testing / analysis and associated interventions under the general supervision of the sleep center manager, medical director, or designee. Can provide supervision of a polysomnographic trainee.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Successful completion of an accredited educational program with an associate’s degree in an allied health field OR completion of 6 months experience as a sleep trainee with documented proficiency in all required competencies OR holds a Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent.  

 

 

Successfully obtain, within 24 months of hire, registry in sleep technology through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist – RPSGT), the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (Sleep

Disorders Specialty – SDS), or the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) (Registered Sleep Technologist – RST).

 

American Heart BLS certification

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

An associate’s degree in an allied healthcare field (respiratory care or neuro-diagnostics).

 

 

Analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data and conduct diagnostic procedures. 

 

Interpersonal skills necessary to explain procedures to patient to alleviate their apprehensions and gain their cooperation
