Description

The Library Technician supports all technical and public service functions of the College Learning Resource Center (LRC). Provides excellent customer service in the general use of the LRC and is responsible for providing research and reference support and technical services to SACN, SAMC, and OSF library users. Provides circulation, interlibrary loan, and cataloging services and oversees technical processing and maintenance of the LRC collection. Performs routine LRC duties such as inventorying, shelving, and shifting of materials. Provides end user instruction in searching databases and computer support and troubleshooting of Library equipment. Collaborates with the SACN Learning Resource Center/Medical Library Supervisor for the Library collection. Assists at Saint Anthony Medical Center Medical Library as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Associate degree or equivalent amount of college course work.

 

 

3 to 6 months on the job experience in libraries. 

 

Ability to work independently and as a team member. 

 

Ability to prioritize workload according to service pressures.

 

Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, email, integrated library software, and web-based searching.  

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Familiarity with a college or healthcare setting and terminology.

 

Experience in knowledge-based searching using EBSCO and OVID databases.

 

Experience in interlibrary loan, reference, and library procedures.

 

Experience using NLM and LC classification, OCLC, MARC format, and AACR2 cataloging system.
