Description

Telephone triage registered nurses are often the first point of access to care for patients from conception through all phases of life, including infancy, childhood, adulthood and geriatrics. The telephone triage nurse demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide episodic patient care that includes comprehensive symptom assessment, patient education, preventative care, acute psychosocial support, and timely individualized clinical recommendations for after-hours care.

The Clinical Educator functions autonomously and in collaboration with the health care team in advanced clinical practice, education, and leadership roles.  The person in this role demonstrates accountability for ensuring that OSF Call Center Mission Partners deliver safe, high quality patient care to enhance the patient / family experience.  The Clinical Educator is responsible for providing appropriate education to the professional and nonprofessional staff by identifying learning needs. Responsibilities includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating orientation and continuing education programs as well as validation of skills needed for each job category.  The Clinical Educator ensures such programs are based on the principle of delivering care appropriate to the ages of the patients served in the department.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an approved College of Nursing.

 

Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing in Illinois. 

 

Licensure in other states may be required by law or client contract.

 

A minimum of 2 years of experience on the unit or a similar unit is required.

 

Electronic Medical Record and Microsoft application basic proficiency. 

 

Basic computer and keyboarding skills are required, with a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute

 

Epic Credentialed Trainer certification within 9 months of beginning the Clinical Educator position.

 

Advanced interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop and present educational programs and facilitate team development.

 

Knowledge of adult learning principles and methods and analytical ability necessary to assess the learning needs of Mission Partners and the effectiveness of programs provided.

 

Flexibility in scheduling of work hours with the ability to provide educational programs and orientation as required.

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A minimum of 5 years of related acute or ambulatory clinical experience or educator experience is preferred.

 

Certification in an area of specialty is preferred.
