Certified Medical Assistants are unlicensed health professionals who perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. Defined clinical tasks are delegated to the CMA by physicians within the practice. Competence in the performance of such tasks are evaluated by designated RN staff or other qualified licensed professional. The incumbent performs the duties described below in accordance with the specific needs of the practice.
This position requires specific knowledge and training related to the performance of administrative skills, technical / clinical skills and medical procedures commonly performed in a medical practice setting.
The position requires a High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and completion of a pharmacology and medication administration course.
This program may be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

CMA Certification and verification by the American Association of Medical Assistants is required.
A physician delegation agreement will be completed and reviewed for each CMA on an annual basis.
The incumbent should have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
Must have the ability to operate office equipment and proficiency in base computer skills.
Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9 codes is preferred.
