DescriptionPerforms clerical duties on nursing unit including computer order entry, accurate transcription of physician orders, preparing and keeping patient charts in order, charting specific entries on patient charts, scheduling patient tests, delivering/returning specimens or blood supplies to lab, and keeps supplies stocked for an efficient unit, all as overseen by the Registered Nurse. Answers patient calls via intercom system, where applicable, and notifies appropriate mission partner of patient needs. Answers telephone in appropriate manner identifying self and unit, delivering messages accurately, keeping confidential information confidential, other assignments by service director, or registered nurse, providing for an efficient nursing care of patients.
High School Diploma.
Completed unit secretary program or equivalent training preferred.
Course in Medical Terminology desired and/or experience in transcription.
