Description

Telephone triage registered nurses are often the first point of access to care for patients from conception through all phases of life, including infancy, childhood, adulthood and geriatrics. The telephone triage nurse demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide episodic patient care that includes comprehensive symptom assessment, patient education, preventative care, acute psychosocial support, and timely individualized clinical recommendations for after-hours care.

The Primary Charge Nurse assists unit leadership in overseeing and directing the work of Mission Partners who are engaged in providing service to patients. They demonstrate accountability for ensuring safe, high quality patient care to enhance the patient / family experience. They exemplify effective leadership skills to determine work priorities, contributing to the delivery of OSF HealthCare Key Results. The Primary Charge Nurse serves as a resource to Mission Partner when resolving operational and patient care needs. Critical thinking and excellent communication skills are required for this leadership position, interacting with the Mission Partners whom they oversee as well as multiple outpatient providers.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Graduate of an accredited RN program or OSF transfer.

 

Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing in Illinois. 

 

Licensure in other states may be required by law or client contract.

 

OSF Healthcare Nursing Division requires that all primary charge nurses are required to earn a BSN degree by December 31, 2020.

 

A minimum of 2 years of experience on the unit or a similar unit is required.

 

Electronic Medical Record and Microsoft application basic proficiency.

 

Basic computer and keyboarding skills are required, with a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

A minimum of 5 years of related acute or ambulatory clinical experience (or per After Hours Call Center Leadership discretion) is preferred.

 

Certification in an area of specialty is preferred.
