Job Description


The Occupational Therapist Assistant provides occupational therapy services in accordance with the physician’s order, direction of the Registered Occupational Therapist, and the State Practice Act. Assists to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part; helps the patients reach his or her maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities. Carries out individualized therapeutic regime as directed by the registered occupational therapist in conjunction with the client and or caregiver. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served. This requires that the individual demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psychosocial needs of the patient population served. Collaborates with other members of the health care team. Accountability to the Care Manager in relation to Utilization Practices, and to PI/Education Coordinator in relation to regulatory and compliance standards .This position has an indirect reporting relationship to the Rehabilitation Coordinator.



  • Associate Degree from an Accredited Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant Program.
  • Currently licensed in the state in which they practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Provides own transportation and auto insurance and abides by all laws, rules and recommendations for safe driving while on duty.  Maintains a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have certification in CPR prior to patient contact.
  • Clinical affiliation or experience in comparable hospital settings is desirable.
  • Expected to make home visits and/or work in office during the evening, night, weekend and/or holiday hours as required.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and execute own workload.
  • Must be able to use and operate medical and/or office equipment, including Point of Care devices.
  • Must have knowledge of the assessment and treatment of physical problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Minimum of one year recent Occupational Therapist Assistant is preferred, home care experience is preferred.
