Description

Provides credentials verification per The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) standards, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for initial appointment and reappointment to ensure that all individuals with clinical privileges are competent and maintain competency to provide patient care within the scope of their training, licensure and privileges. Coordinates and analyzes the collecting, aggregating, and reporting of primary source verification information and other key indicators such as clinical competency, malpractice history, disciplinary actions, etc. to facility Medical Staff Offices, Medical Staff Department/Committee Chairs for use in the credentialing decision-making process for initial appointment, reappointment and privileging.  Remains current in regulatory matters relevant to the credentialing process.  Reports to the CVO Manager.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Associates Degree in business or health care related field

  • One year experience in the health care industry

  • Working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite

     

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or health care related field

  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, or NCQA standard

  • Experience in credentialing preferably in a Medical Staff Office, CVO, physician practice, or insurance/provider enrollment environment

  • Understanding of credentialing, managed care functions, or provider enrollment

  • Knowledge of Morrissey/Verity MSOW credentialing software

  • NAMSS certification as either a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
