The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for the provision of physical therapy services and treatments in the home setting under the direction of a licensed physical therapist in accordance with the physician’s order and State Practice Act.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
This requires that the individual demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psychosocial needs of the patient population served.
Collaborates with other members of the health care team.
Communicates with supervising Physical Therapist in regards to patient status and progress.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
Develops and maintain a positive working relationship with department and other Home Care personnel, patients, students, and outside agencies.
Associate’s Degree from Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Provides own transportation and auto insurance and abides by all laws, rules and recommendations for safe driving while on duty.
Maintains a valid driver’s license.
Must have certification in CPR prior to patient contact.
Work schedule may include some weekends as needed.
Must be able to work independently in virtual work environment and execute own workload.
Proficient with electronic documentation, Microsoft programs including, Outlook, Word, etc.
Must have knowledge of the treatment of physical disorders; having an understanding of problem solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
Position requires the ability lift 75 pounds.
Must be able to use and operate therapeutic equipment.
Minimum of one year recent physical therapy assistant experience preferred.
Home health care experience preferred.
