Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist and the Manager of Medical Imaging, the MRI Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures including MRI exams which may require independent judgment. Such exams will be done with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. The MRI Technologist demonstrates knowledge of proper imaging technique (i.e. positioning, technical factors) in special populations such as children, adults, elderly and patients in debilitating conditions. Provides care for patients across the lifespan based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of patients served in assigned service area.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High school graduate or equivalent. 

 

Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirement for registry by the ARRT.

    

ARRT registered.

 

Must obtain MRI Advanced registry certification within 2 years of hire date.

 

A current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification is required.

 

 

Previous MRI experience desired or recent graduation from an AMA approved school.

 

 

Under the direction of the Radiologist, operates MRI equipment in order to produce diagnostic images of designated portions of the body. 

 

Performs related duties, including adjusting equipment to correct setting for each examination, positioning and instructing patients, and determining proper protocol.

 

Verifies correct patient data has been entered on the imaging device and performs necessary function for PACS environment. 

 

Screens all individuals (patients, guests and staff) for ferromagnetic items. 

 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

 

Ability to operate office machinery (computers, copiers, calculators, fax, etc.)
