Description

The Mammography Technologist cares for patients while operating equipment to produce high quality images for radiologist interpretation. Responsibility includes EMR/PACS navigation, general patient care, positioning patients, providing procedure information and executing proper imaging protocol/technique for all examinations. Complies with ALARA and all regulatory requirements in providing safe and appropriate care.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum of 6 months on-the-job training and experience in mammography procedures or completion of a formal mammography program with associated certificate or degree.

 

IEMA license in radiography with associated degree or certificate.

 

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT(R)) registered.  

 

Advanced certification in mammography 1 year after hire if not currently registered.

 

CPR certification

 

Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress in order to gather and exchange routine patient information with peers, nursing, radiologist and provider.

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

2 year radiography experience preferred.

 

1 year mammography experience preferred.
