Description

Works collaboratively with (Emergency Medical Services) EMS Education, Safety and Emergency Department to improve the emergency preparedness of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC), regional medical facilities and EMS Systems as outlined in the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) benchmarks. This position will coordinate the disaster and emergency response of SFMC, regional medical facilities and EMS Systems, developing plans and training that will meet ASPR, IDPH, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC)/other accreditation standards. Integrates regional medical facilities and EMS Systems with communities in order to create a heightened emergency response to disaster events.  Consults with regional hospitals on issues of emergency management preparedness and inspects for compliance with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations  (JCAHO) or JCAHO/IDPH/ASPR/CMS.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Industrial Health, Environmental Health or a closely related field

 

2 years of related work experience

 

Professional knowledge of emergency management, incident command, safety, business or EMS/Trauma education.

 

 

Knowledge with Joint Commission disaster preparedness Standards and Federal requirements for emergency preparedness.

 

Ability to use the Incident Command System

 

Interpersonal skills necessary to present ideas and information, lead project teams and to effectively present reports and recommendations to top Medical Center management.

 

Background in emergency, disaster, hazardous materials and prolonged care medicine in relation to disasters and terrorism.

 

Ability to design lesson plans, course coordinate, and conduct realistic simulated training.

 

Ability to articulate complex concepts both orally and in writing. This includes public speaking.

 

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
