Description

The Compliance Officer manages the Ministry-wide compliance and privacy program in the officer’s assigned service area.   Works collaboratively with leadership, Mission Partners, and other compliance officers and auditors to proactively educate around Federal and State requirements in an effort to prevent the incidence of fraud, waste, abuse or other violations of government health care program integrity.  When gaps are identified, works with responsible parties to create action plans to correct the situation and maintain compliance going forward.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 



Bachelor’s degree (with preferred concentration in health care administration, other health care profession or business); OR a minimum of 5 years’ experience in legal, compliance or healthcare leadership



Ability to be physically present and available at sites in the assigned service area on a regular basis and throughout OSF on an occasional basis.

 

Understanding of Federal and State health care statutes and regulations, government health care program requirements, the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the demands placed on health care organizations.

 

Strong organizational skills, motivated, self-directed, able to work independently, prioritize and juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, achieve results, adapt readily to change and also work well as part of a team. 

 

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and develop informative audit reports.

 

Minimum of intermediate level computer skills and ability to research regulatory requirements.

 

Ability to review and understand statutory, regulatory and sub-regulatory materials, communicate the requirements clearly both orally and in writing, and able to teach others the principals to which we must subscribe.

 

Ability to develop and maintain strong, lasting professional relationships.

 

Must ascribe to and represent Catholic Religious Ethics, Values, and Principles as they relate to the practice of Catholic health care.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Certification in compliance, privacy or a related field.
