Description

Responsible for the coordination of billing, pricing, reimbursement and compliance related to testing within OSF Laboratories. Calculates test volumes related to Saint Francis Medical Center (SFMC) Inpatient (IP), Outpatient (OP), and Reference Lab testing and creation of invoice documents for payment from other OSF entities and payments to the contracted Pathology group for global billing. Ensures timely lab test billing and minimization of denials through Epic Work queue reconciliation. Initiates CPT/Charge Code additions and changes for Labs across the Ministry and ensures correct pricing for SFMC and Reference Lab billing. Consults with Lab Leaders, General Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Compliance Mission Partners on correct coding and complex quarterly and/or annual billing reports. Provides analyses of test volumes looking for trends and shifts that are reported to Leaders. Keeps current on billing compliance issues.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science or Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting, or similar degree

 

1 year experience in a hospital clinical laboratory OR 2 years’ experience in Medical billing/coding

 

Analytical skills necessary to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data.

 

Proficient use of computers and a working knowledge of hospital and laboratory computer systems.

 

Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint

 

Ability to work on several projects at one time with good organizational and problem solving skills.

 

Good interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all OSF personnel and all levels of the Medical Center.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Experience using Visio, MS Project, and OneNote

 

 

ASCP certification preferred
