The Clinical Educator is responsible for coordinating, developing, implementing, teaching, and evaluating educational programs in the hospital departments at OSF Medical Centers. Assist department managers in the development of orientation and competency educational tools. Assist in the maintaining of staff development records. Assist in the development of patient educational materials and documentation forms. The clinical educator develops and individualize orientation for assigned department’s new hires. Meets with new hires and preceptors to guide the orientation process. The clinical educator works in direct patient care as needed by the department and serves as a preceptor for new hires during orientation to validate competency and evaluate progress of the orientation.
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing
3 years of hospital nursing experience
Experience providing education in nursing and/or other areas of health care
Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS
Master’s degree in either Nursing or Education within 5 years of hire.
Professional nursing certification specific to the approval list by OSF Nursing Practice Council within 2 years of hire.
Current instructor status in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support or obtain within 90 days of hire date.
Through comprehension of the nursing process and education process to assess/analyze needs, coordinate/plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs based on adult learning principles.
